Probationary tenancies application process

The application process for probationary tenancies should follow the general guidance on application processes set out above as well as the Bar Council’s guidelines, which includes:

  • Identifying and applying the same selection criteria to all applications;
  • Monitoring (see Section 5 below);
  • Using and retaining scoring sheets to compare applications;
  • Interview panels trained in fair recruitment.[1]

If an offer of a probationary tenancy is made, it should specify the nature of relationship between the probationary tenancy and full-term tenancy.
