Staff recruitment

While the equivalent professional statement will not necessarily exist depending on the nature of the staff role in question, chambers and BSB entities can seek to distil the relevant competencies identified in light of the job review (above). These are likely to include requirements related to experience/qualifications (such as work in a relevant field or academic ability); skills and knowledge (like IT skills); and personal attributes (including teamwork). However, care needs to be taken to ensure that the selection criteria are suited to the specific role. Generic criteria may be – at best – unhelpful at selecting the most suitable candidates and – at worst – create unjustified disadvantages for certain applicants.
