Restoring from backups

Apr 11, 2023

Recovering individual files is quicker than restoring from a full device backup.

Before recovering a deleted file from the backup, check the recycling bin first to see if a latest save is available to be restored first before using the backup.

If you are recovering due to a malware or ransomware attack, you will need to be careful on how you recover from a backup to avoid the backup from being infected.

In some events you may want to clone the backup before recovering using an external device first.  For example, hard drives could be cloned to another hard drive using a clone docking station that does not plug in to the computer. This will keep the original backup safe, while the cloned version is used to restore. Multiple clones of backups could be useful if multiple devices need to be restored simultaneously.
