Mitigating circumstances

Chambers should give due consideration to allowing candidates an opportunity to provide information on mitigating circumstances as part of the application process. This information may assist in contextual recruitment (see above).[1] Care should be taken to consider when and to whom this information is available, as well as steps to ensure that this information is treated in a fair and consistent way as between applicants (as discussed in the ‘Weighting’ section above).
